Doug Brown, Derek Rowley, Zach Smith, Joe Gade, and Jermey Berquest
spent Thursday March 29th, 2001 in Seattle. We were attending a job shadow at King 5 New broadcasting, with Steve Doud. Staring as an editor 23 years ago, he has worked his way up to become Chief Photographer. We were able to see what Steve did throughout the day. Although normally he is in the field filming stories for King 5, he spent a few hours with us to explain his job and let us play with his toys! Cameras they use cost around $50,000, they have about 35 camera's. Also they have 8 editing stations that run about $85,000 each. This is not even mentioning all the other TV's, Mixers, Aplifiers, Studio's, ton's of other gadgets, 8 vans and the hellicopter they own. We had lots of fun.
After the Job Shadow, we ate breakfast at Dennys and then drove to REI. There we climed the Pinacle otherwise known as "the rock". I climbed the 5.9 for the second time. It was much easier than before. The belayer even said I got the "Fastest Climber" award for the day! I think I will try the 5.11 next time. Zach was unable to climb the pinacle since he was under 18 and did not have a parent with him. Doug, Joe, and Jermey were each able to test ride bikes. The trail was closed so they just rode tward the Space Needle. Unfortunatly, Joe, got a flat tire along the way, so they were unable to make it to the Space Needle. Zach and I were unable to test the bikes, Zach was not old enough, and I didn't have enough ID. This seems to becoming a bigger and bigger problem for me lately. After that we came home.
