UTAH ROAD TRIP

On Sunday April 15th, 2001, Carrie O'Connor, Tim, Travis, John Bangerter and Derek Rowley left for Utah at 6:30 am. The drive was very long, but we had lots of fun. We arrived in Provo at 10 p.m. We stayed at the Best Inn near the Marriot Center.

In the morning Tim talked with his professor for about 20 minutes about his future job at BYU. Tim and I toured the campus and found all the computer labs. We found my brother Brandon "studding" with his class mates from his accounting class. We stopped by Joy Fishers and dropped off a present for her mother and got out picture with the "wok". We also stopped by to see Lachelle White but she was not home at the time. It was about 70° but we survived. At about 6:30 we went to Brandons to have a "FHE" party. There were about 80 people that came and Tim Jon and I were able to meet most of the girls. And even Debbie, Brandon's girl at the time. After the party we went to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. They were soooo good! The doughnuts were made right there. So we ate hot fresh doughnuts that melted in our mouths. Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Good!

Tuesday we toured the campus with Joy Fisher. At 2 p.m. Tim and I met up with Brandon to climb to the "Y". It took us about 45 minutes to reach it and about 30 minutes to get back down. The view was very good, we could see all of Provo and out to Utah Lake. After the hike we ate dinner at Cafe Rio. There they served tacos, burritos, and Inchalates. We all ate burritos, they were very good. Tuesday was the last day of class for BYU. So we decided to celebrate Spring Fling with them. Basically it was a big party on campus with free food, music, bands, comedians, and girls every where. After the party we headed for 7-11 at about 12 p.m. When we arrived, the line was out the door and all the cups for slurpies were out. So we went to the other 7-11 farther away. The line was also out the door but at least they had cups. After that we went back to the Best Inn, Brandon, Tim, Sean, Lindsey, kayce, Tim and I went swimming. We found that Travis already had a girlfriend that he met at the hotel that night. There were three busses that had arrived that evening filled with High School students who had come for a language presentation. In total there were probably about 75 bus loads of High School students that had come for the language presentation. Anyway, at about 1:45 am, Tim and I got out of the pool. Tim went right to bed and I went back to the pool since the room was boring and I wasn't very tired. At about 2:30 am, everyone got out. We had Sean and Lindsey go into John's room to act like they were making out. John thought it was Travis just bugging him again. He didn't realize it was not him until they left the room after a few minutes. Then John dead-bolted the door so Travis and I couldn't get back in the room. We knocked and yelled but he wouldn't let us in. We met some German kid who was staying there. But they wouldn't let us stay with them for the night. The guy working up front started wondering what we were doing at 3:30 am and about the 10th time walking by him. We told him we were locked out but he couldn't do much. Besides he was talking to his girlfriend. He must have the best job. He works late at night when no one comes so all he has to do is be there. So he can do his homework or talk all night with girls. Finally at about 4 p.m. John let us in. He turned into "Multiple Fffffreak!" for a few seconds then passed out.

Wednesday we slept in, we didn't do much but we did go to Brandon's in the evening for a small party.

Thursday I woke up early and left for Bountiful with Brandon to see our Grandparents. Along the way we stopped to see Will and Charity Campbell. I hadn't seen will for about 5 years, so he looked quite different to me. We then went to see our grandparents. We were there for about 90 minutes. We took a few family pictures and then had head back to Salt Lake City, where we met with the O'Connors. We watched the Testament, it was very good. After that we went and ate lunch then went to our new hotel in SLC. It was no where near as good as the one in Provo, but it was only for one day so we were able to last through it. We visited Temple Square and took pictures. We came back at 9 to take a picture of the reflection pond and see the grounds at night. John and Travis stayed up all night long watching movies, fighting and wrestling. I stayed up for a while then fell asleep, waking up every so often.

Friday was the long drive home. We left at 6:30 am and arrived at about 8:30 p.m. The trip was lots of fun and I am very glad I went.
